Greggs to reopen 800 stores across the UK from mid-June after 'robust' safety tests

Greggs will reportedly reopen a huge number of its stores from mid-June. The beloved baked goods chain closed its doors in March, but the Sun reports 800 outlets will be back open for business next month.

The company has been experimenting with a phased reopening, with a handful of branches in Tyneside trialling a reopening with a limited menu and social distancing measures in place.

There have been queues out the door with customers desperate for a steak bake or sausage roll after so many Greggs-less weeks.

After the success of the gradual reopening, the chain is now planning to throw open even more of its doors. A Greggs spokeswoman told the Sun: "We have planned and delivered robust shop trials using our new operational safety measures
