Hairdressers and salons to close in Tier 4: the rules of the tier system

Tier 2, 3 and 4 restrictions applied to 99 per cent of England.In Tier 1, 2 and 3, hairdressers and salons are permitted to remain open as part of the government's Covid winter plan.

However in Tier 4, residents must stay at home. Non essential retail, indoor gyms and personal care services must close. People should not enter or leave tier 4 areas.

People can only meet one person in an outdoor public space. Hairdressing salons can now reopen and operate in a Covid-secure manner in all three tiers - Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3.
