The Minister for Health and the Chief Medical Officer are to meet Limerick health officials and politicians today over rising Covid-19 figures in the county.
A spokesperson for Minister Stephen Donnelly said he is concerned at a sharp rise in cases in Limerick. Mid-West public health officials and politicians will also attend the virtual meeting.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said there has been more than 800 confirmed cases of the virus in Limerick in the past two weeks, mainly as a result of indoor gatherings.
Meanwhile, the Limerick City and County Council said it is not planning to close any area for the Bank Holiday weekend because of fears of large crowds gathering.
