Tributes have been paid to a much-loved Hillsborough survivor following his death after a short battle with coronavirus. Dave Roland passed away aged 65 just days before the 31st anniversary of the tragedy at Sheffield Wednesday's ground during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on April 15 1989.
Ninety-six people lost their lives after a crush ensued on the Leppings Lane end of the ground housing Liverpool supporters.
An image of Dave taken after the harrowing scenes, in which he buries his head in a Liverpool scarf while sat at the bottom of the stand, became one of the most poignant in the aftermath of Hillsborough.
