Keir Starmer has called on people to do their “national duty” and get their covid booster jabs to protect against the Omicron variant.The Labour leader used his televised response to the Prime Minister’s Sunday night emergency broadcast on to call on people to “do your bit” to stop the spread of the new variant which is set to become the dominant strain of the virus within days.

Starmer said the Omicron variant is spreading so fast that people had to sign up to the government plan to vaccinate the entire adult population before Hogmanay.
