Lanarkshire records its largest ever weekly rise in Covid cases

iOS - Android Last week saw the largest increase in new coronavirus cases in Lanarkshire on record. It was also the eighth consecutive week in which Covid-19 cases have increased after falling to their lowest level for eight months at the end of April.New weekly cases topped 1000 for the first time since February and more than 2000 cases were recorded in a single week for the first time since the new year peak in week beginning January 4.Last week, the rate of new cases in Lanarkshire was lower than the national average.Deaths from coronavirus have also increased in June and five people died this past month after testing positive – up from two in May.In total, 46,756 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Lanarkshire and 1328 people.
