Wigan and Leigh have been revealed as the number of infections in the borough continues to increase. Data from Public Health England (PHE) shows that 16 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Lowton in the week from September 11 to 17.A total of 15 new cases were also recorded in Winstanley, while 12 people tested positive in Lowton Common.Areas to the south of the borough appear to be among the worst affected, with Leigh North and Leigh West both recording 10 new cases each.Meanwhile, there were nine new infections in both Astley, Blackmoor & Mosley Common and Tyldesley South.There has been a huge increase in the number of cases across the borough over the past week.The spike led to Wigan being placed on coronavirus 'red alert' last.
