A letting agent has apologised to a nurse after demanding a negative COVID-19 swab test before replacing a broken boiler which left her family without hot water for five days.
As it turned out, the plumber did not require a test result to install the boiler and the work was carried out on Monday. But Amy Elliott, 25, claims that even being asked to provide proof she did not have COVID-19 was 'discriminatory' at a time when anyone could be infected - and pointed out that in fact her job made her an expert in infection control.
After the M.E.N got in touch with agent Ryder & Dutton, they apologised to their tenant, and explained they had requested the test 'in desperation to find a way through the problem which was not eventually needed'.
