ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A line of storms and showers moved through Central Florida overnight, dumping heavy rain across much of the region.
The showers began in Marion County, where a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 2 a.m. After the first round of storms, rain continued to fall throughout the morning ahead of another possible round of storms Thursday afternoon.
Before the cold front moved through, News 6 chief meteorologist Tom Sorrells predicted some areas would receive 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Some of the stronger storms were expected to produce winds of up to 40-60 mph, along with heavy rain and intense lightning. The high temperature in Orlando will be 79 degrees Thursday.
