Liverpool are set for a £17million windfall next season after Barcelona's transfer U-turn over Philippe Coutinho. Coutinho had appeared destined to leave Camp Nou for good this summer, with Premier League rivals Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton among the clubs reported to be interested in the former Liverpool playmaker.
But with Bayern Munich unwilling to sign him permanently after taking him on loan for the season, there is simply no market to sell the 27-year-old.
Clubs everywhere are set to struggle financially due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic - not to mention the fact that it is not yet known when the transfer window will even open.
