PHILADELPHIA - A local group boarded a bus Thursday to head to the historic March on Washington. "Enough is enough," said Monique Gaillard to dozens of women boarding a bus in Germantown Thursday afternoon.

On Friday, they will join tens of thousands for the historic March on Washington. "We are making history. We can say what we was doing on this day and tomorrow," said a woman to the crowd.

The ladies are part of "Women in Motion" founded by Gaillard who organized the trip to the 57th Anniversary of the March on Washington.

This year it’s being called "The Commitment March: Get your knee off our necks". "I woke crying this morning. Part happy tears and part sad tears because I was so upset that we still have to do this but happy that.

Suspect surrenders after hours long standoff at West Philadelphia home, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities gathered outside a home in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night after police said a recently evicted tenant locked himself inside with two young children.Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to a home on the 5500 block of West Girard Avenue just before 8 p.m.According to police, a 36-year-old man who was recently evicted from the property changed all the locks and violated a Protection From Abuse order. PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old. The officer in the passenger's seat identified himself as police and ordered both men to drop their weapons when one of the men fired towards the officer, Gripp said. The officer ducked behind cover as the suspect attempted to flee down Keyser Street. According to investigators, the officer that was still inside the vehicle drove after the suspect and fired once through the windshield but missed. Both suspects were uninjured and captured nearby due to a massive police response, Gripp said.Investigators believe something happened between the men before police arrived that involved more than just the two gunmen. Gripp said police are still looking for other suspects, but he did not provide a description. "It just continues to speak to level the gun violence that we're seeing almost every day in this city," Gripp said.
