Paige Simon (Credit: Decatur County Sheriff's Office) GREENSBURG, Ind. - An Indiana teacher has been charged with stalking a student, sending him nearly 600 lewd messages. The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department said 28-year-old Paige Simon of Osgood has been charged with stalking, official misconduct and battery. In a probable cause statement obtained by FOX Television Stations, authorities said they were alerted to the alleged crime by the victim's father. The victim is now 18 years old but was 15 at the time of the alleged incident.SHARED: Man charged in Harvard bomb threats, Bitcoin extortion schemeThe father said his son had been receiving inappropriate text messages from a teacher at South Decatur High School. The student later told the school staff and authorities that Simon had at one point reached for his cell phone and her hand lingered in the groin area.

METTER, Ga. - Some Georgians woke up very early Saturday morning to the ground shaking.The United States Geological Survey reported an earthquake about 20 miles west of Statesboro, Georgia near Metter, Georgia. It happened around 4:05 a.m. and measured a 3.9 magnitude. People have reported feeling the quake in Savannah, Bluffton, and Statesboro and as far away as Columbia, Augusta, Warner Robins and Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service.There were no reports of any major damage caused by the quake.

DECATUR, Ga. - Police are searching for a gunman in a deadly shooting outside of a DeKalb County food mart Wednesday night.Now the 19-year-old victim's grandmother is speaking out about her loss.Johnnie Jones described her grandson Jakare McKellar as a "loveable kid." The 19-year-old was outside a Food Mart on 3800 block of Flat Shoals Parkway, just outside of Interstate 285, when he was gunned down late that night.Police on the scene didn't say much about the investigation. McKellar's family tells us a car drove up and someone started shooting, killing the young man.

DECATUR, Ga. - DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox said a supermarket cashier was shot over a dispute with a customer about a mask on Monday. A DeKalb County deputy in the supermarket shot at the suspect, Maddox said, and the suspect returned fire and struck the deputy.Authorities said the suspect, currently hospitalized, was arguing about a mask when he shot at a cashier at Big Bear Supermarket in Decatur.  A deputy, who was employed part-time for security with the store, intervened and returned fire, a sheriff's office spokesperson said. "That is what he's trained to do, that's part of his 30-year career in law enforcement," Maddox said.
