Major coronavirus surge in Ayrshire as just 29 towns and villages have suppressed cases

Ayrshire has led to suppressed towns and villages being wiped out.The number of suppressed areas has been more than halved in a week.Now less than a third of the region has zones with low prevalence of coronavirus.

As of today, 29 of 92 Ayrshire areas have suppressed COVID-19. The number of suppressed zones last week was 61.Ayrshire has recorded 65 positive tests overnight bringing the region's total to 18,019.Across Scotland 775 new Covid cases have been detected in the past 24 hours with 240,528 positive tests in total.No new deaths have been recorded overnight.In East Ayrshire, 7 of the 30 areas are suppressed.

Bellfield and Kirkstyle has the highest case rate in East Ayrshire at the moment (330.3).Suppressed: Newmilns; Kilmaurs;.
