Two boroughs have now have a higher coronavirus infection rate than Bolton. Bolton had been holding the top spot in our region, and the country, for a number of weeks but cases have recently been declining in the area, thanks to a series of targeted measures.
The infection rate in Bolton in the week ending June 11 was 300.1 per 100,000, which is a fall of six per cent from the previous week.
Both Salford and Manchester now have a higher rate of infection than Bolton, according to the latest data from Public Health England.
Salford has the highest infection rate across the conurbation, with 316.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending June 11.
