Man seriously injured in chemical 'explosion' as locals call 999 over 'loud boom'

A man is seriously injured in hospital after he suffered chemical burns in an ‘explosion’ on an industrial estate this morning.

Emergency services raced to a workplace in Cadishead, Greater Manchester, shortly after 11am. Residents reported seeing police, fire and ambulance crews while one neighbour said they heard a “really loud boom” coming from the scene.

The onlooker said: “The noise was really loud like a big boom something exploding or collapsing, that's all I can say. Scary.” Another local said: "We heard a big blast and we didn’t think much of it at first.

We thought it could be from a car. “It was quite soon after that, very quickly, that we saw all the police cars. They arrived and there were fire engines too.” North West
