Three men caught in a McDonald's drive-thru 100 miles away from their homes have each been hit with a £200 coronavirus fine.

And one of the group had his Mercedes seized by officers, after he was caught driving with a smashed front screen and no wipers, reports Derbyshire Live.

Priti Patel warned during a Downing Street press conference on Tuesday that officers would be faster in issuing fines as the pandemic reached a 'critical point'.

Under lockdown rules, all non-essential travel is banned and everyone has been urged to 'stay home'. Officers spotted a car pulling into one of the fast-food giant's restaurants at Horns Bridge Roundabout in Chesterfield, on Monday (January 11).
