Arsenal star Mesut Ozil’s importance to the squad has been defended by team-mate Bernd Leno. Since arriving in north London in 2013, the German has won three FA Cups with the Gunners and made more than 250 appearances.
The midfielder has suffered criticism from fans in recent seasons, though, after getting into an argument with the club over planned pay cuts amid the coronavirus lockdown.
And it has seen some call for the 31-year-old to be sold in pursuit of other young talents. But Leno, who has been working with Ozil in north London since 2018, believes the German's ability should be more readily recognised.
