Mike Huckaby, an influential DJ in the Detroit techno and house music scene, died Friday (April 24) after a lengthy hospitalization stemming from a stroke.
He was 54. Huckaby suffered a mild stroke in early March and later tested positive for COVID-19, according to his brother, Craig Huckaby, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The DJ's booking agency, CONNECT Bookings, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook following the DJ's death on Friday. "RIP Mike Huckaby.
One of the greatest djs and producers in the history of electronic dance music. An incredible human being. The world has lost a genius today," CONNECT wrote.
