Minister of State at the Department of Finance Seán Fleming has said he does not believe the State is exposed to legal actions regarding Covid-19 infections.
It follows a report in today's Irish Times that a Co Offaly worker who nearly died from Covid-19 is suing his employer for personal injuries.
The Fianna Fáil TD for Laois/Offaly told RTÉ's Saturday with Katie Hannon that the State did "all it could" at the time and it was an evolving situation.
He also said compensation that will be paid to family members of healthcare workers who died from Covid-19 in the early stage of the pandemic is a "humanitarian gesture" to acknowledge the work they did. Latest coronavirus stories "It is not connected with any legal situation", he said.
