More walk-in centres as vaccine rollout nears final phase

The Director of the HSE Vaccination Campaign Damien McCallion has said that more walk-in clinics are being provided as the rollout starts to move into the final phase.

He told RTÉ's Today programme that these centres will be offering both the first dose and the second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine this weekend.

While he acknowledged it will be "more complex" with these walk-in facilities now offering both first and second doses, his advice for people is to check on the HSE website for all relevant information.

In a separate effort to boost the uptake of vaccines, the HSE will be running local campaigns with the pharmacy sector in areas where there is a high prevalence of the virus. "We hope it will encourage those to get vaccinated." He said
