An MP has called an emergency meeting of a Parliamentary committee over the border chaos sparked by Covid-19. Overnight France shut its border to arrivals of people and trucks from the United Kingdom, closing off one of the most important trade arteries with mainland Europe.
Boris Johnson has resisted calls to bring MPs back from their Christmas break, which began on Thursday. But Labour's Darren Jones, who chairs the Business, Energy, Innovation and Skills [BEIS] Committee, said that was "absurd" - and called an emergency meeting of the group to discuss the issue.
