MPs face queueing for almost a kilometre to vote tomorrow under "deranged" plans to bring back a socially-distanced Parliament.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Tory leader of the Commons, has demanded MPs return to vote in person from tomorrow after months of working from home.

The plan already prompted outcry from MPs who must travel hundreds of miles to London - or are "shielding" at home for medical reasons.

Now the scheme has been branded "madness" after it emerged MPs will form a queue up to 800 metres long to vote. The plan - compared to the line for an Alton Towers ride - will be put into action for the first time when MPs vote on the new arrangements tomorrow lunchtime.
