The Acting Chief Medical Officer has said there are now multiple clusters of Covid-19 with secondary spread of disease and rising numbers of cases in many parts of the country.
Dr Ronan Glynn said it was deeply concerning and that the National Public Health Emergency Team would monitor the situation extremely closely over the coming days.
There has been a small increase overnight in the number of patients in hospital with confirmed cases of Covid-19. The number of patients is now 16, an increase of two on Friday's figure.
Eight of these patients are in intensive care. In the past two weeks, over 1,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported. Yesterday, health officials reported 200 new cases of the virus, the highest number in a single day
