A mother who fought coronavirus after undergoing a double amputation has warned the "virus has not gone away". Sophie Richardson who was looking forward to rebuilding her life after her life-changing surgery - but found herself back in hospital with the virus just four weeks after being discharged from a 12-week lockdown inpatient stay.

The 29-year-old was admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary with a leg wound infection following a double amputation, where she underwent a test for Covid-19.

After the positive result, Sophie was immediately transferred onto a covid ward where her condition deteriorated. She is now on and off four litres of oxygen per day and described the pain as being like having someone sat on her chest, reports Hull Live.
