Music industry calls on Govt to set date for reopening

The Music and Entertainment Association of Ireland has called for the Government to commit to a date for the reopening of the live music sector.

Members of the live music sector are to meet Minister Catherine Martin this afternoon to discuss a roadmap for the return of live concerts and other cultural events.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, MEAI spokesperson Matt McGranaghan warned that 50% of workers are at risk of becoming unemployed in the coming months.

He said the industry has now had 525 days of continuous lockdown since March 2020. "I think we we need to be responsible about the re-opening of the industry for the workforce and the general public," he said, and called on the Government to create a scenario so the re-opening can
