Muslim charity receives much needed PPE for conducting coronavirus-related funerals

A charity, which has conducted almost 30 coronavirus-related funerals for Muslims in Bolton, has been gifted some much needed PPE.

Muslim Hands has donated 20 personal protective equipment kits to Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM), which represents 32 mosques across the borough.

The kits include a Hazmat suit, visor, foot covers, and N95 mask. Emerging evidence suggests that Covid-19 is having a disproportionate effect on people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.

Saeed Muhammad, funeral director at Bolton Council of Mosques, said: "So far we have conducted around 29 Covid-19 related funerals and this equipment will be paramount in continuing to ensure the health and safety of those performing the burial service." S
