NASCAR is taking a stand against displaying the confederate flag. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing announced on Wednesday that the controversial symbol of the failed Southern secession movement has been banned from all future racing events and locations. The move to ban the flag comes amid massive protests against systemic racism and widespread vocal demands for racial justice and equality in hundreds of cities across the nation.“The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry," the company said in a statement released to ET on Wednesday.
