Millions of Brits embraced the weekly Clap for Carers tradition during the first lockdown, with the event now set to return at 8pm tonight.

However, the newly-named Clap for Heroes has already come under fire from some NHS staff who see it as an empty gesture. They have instead called on people to obey Covid-19 lockdown rules to help reduce pressure on hospitals.
