NHS trusts across the North West will have £1.2billion of debt scrapped by the government. Earlier this month the Health Secretary announced it will be wiping £13.4 billion debt as part of a package of reforms to the NHS financial system.

A total of 17 NHS trusts across the North West will benefit from the measures, which the government said have been introduced to provide financial support during the coronavirus pandemic.

The changes came into force on April 1. In Greater Manchester, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will see £160,561 written off by the government.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated NHS Foundation Trust has had £106,631 scrapped and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust will see £46,0555 wiped.
