Nicola Sturgeon is set to hold an unscheduled coronavirus briefing later today as fears grow over the Omicron variant in Scotland.
The First Minister will issue an update on the latest situation across the country as well as urge Scots to stay at home to halt the spread of the new strain which first originated in southern Africa.
Yesterday, the SNP leader issued a stark warning that Omicron would become the dominant strain in Scotland today with the R number believed to be at four.
She told MSPs at Holyrood: "Please reduce your contact with people from households other than your own as much as you possibly can.
