Number of hospital patients with Covid-19 down by 17

The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 has begun to reduce again, according to new figures from the Health Service Executive.

It says there were 342 patients with the disease in hospital last night, a reduction of 17 on earlier in the day. The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 has fluctuated over the past week.

The hospital caring for the largest number of cases is St James's in Dublin with 38 patients. There are 14 hospitals around the country with fewer than nine cases.

The number of patients in intensive care with the disease remains stable at 80. In relation to daily case numbers in the community, the National Public Health Emergency Team has described the situation as volatile.  Latest coronavirus stories Depu
