A husband was forced to say goodbye to his wife by phone as she died in hospital with coronavirus following a series of failings by the NHS.
John McKell, 67, was hoping for a long retirement with Margaret, 73, until she contracted the deadly virus which eventually took her life.
He revealed that the NHS refused to send her a test kit to their Helensburgh home because the computer incorrectly ruled they lived on a Scottish island, reports the Daily Record.
Choking back tears, he said: “It is such a horrible disease and we will never know if she would have got any longer. All we are left with are ifs, ifs, ifs.
