Police say they are investigating a double shooting that killed one man after a shootout erupted after a three-car accident in North Philadelphia.  PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured after a car accident turned into a deadly shootout during rush hour in North Philadelphia on Tuesday.At around 5:06 p.m., police say they responded to the 3600 block of Broad Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police say they located a 33-year-old man lying in the northbound lanes of Broad Street, suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Police picked up the victim and took him to Temple Hospital where they say he was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m.While investigating the scene, police say they also located a 38-year-old man who was suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.

PHILADELPHIA - An alleged mail fraud scheme could mean prison time and up to $8.5-million-fines for three men from the Philadelphia area.Sam Wolo, 21, of Philadelphia; Bruno Nyanue, 20, of Philadelphia; and Gransae Manue, 20, of Clifton Heights are charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, conspiracy to commit mail theft, possession of stolen mail and robbery of a postal carrier. All three men stole or attempted to steal more than $170,000 by "washing" and depositing checks and money orders stolen from USPS mailboxes in Drexel Hill, according to the U.S. District Attorney's Office.The stolen checks were often altered with amounts greater than the original value, without the victim's knowledge.Officials say they were able to repeatedly steal from mailboxes after forcibly robbing a letter carrier of his Arrow Key.MORE HEADLINES:About 372 stolen checks and 11 money orders totaling more than $170,000 were reportedly found in Wolo's apartment and vehicle. If convicted, Wolo faces a maximum of 236 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $8.5 million.

NEWPORT TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Investigators with Pennsylvania State Police have identified a set of human remains as a teen missing for more than 50 years. According to the agency, the human remains were discovered in Luzerne County on November 17, 2002, on the grounds of a former coal-mining operation in Newport Township. Police say the remains have been identified as Joan Marie Dymond, who was 14 years old when she disappeared from Andover Street Park on June 25, 1969. Examination of the remains reveals that Dymond died of suspicious circumstances and lab results indicate that it is highly likely that she died in the late 1960s, troopers say. Investigators were able to identify Dymond by using DNA and comparing it to a DNA sample provided by Dymond's family, according to the agency. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"We never stopped pursuing answers, and this investigation remains very active," Captain Patrick Dougherty said. "After 23 years, the family of Joan Marie Dymond very much deserves closure.

Another 14-year-old and a 17-year-old were also hurt in the shooting but are expected to survive.

PHILADELPHIA - A man has died after he was shot in the neck in Philadelphia, authorities say. According to police, officers responded to Ogontz and Stenton Avenues just before 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Officials say responding officers found a man walking in the area bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his neck. Witnesses told authorities that the man got out of a Buick Sedan traveling northbound on Ogontz Avenue that stopped at the intersection, and Good Samaritans rushed to try and assist him, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice transported the man to Einstein Medical Center, where he was placed in critical condition and underwent surgery, Small says. Authorities say he did not survive and later died. According to Small, the Buick Sedan is still parked at the crime scene and there is blood in the driver's seat. Investigators say they are not sure if the man was driving the vehicle or driven to the location, but authorities do not believe the shooting happened in the area.

Andre Shuford  PHILADELPHIA - A man and two girls were struck by a fleeing vehicle last month, and now police say a man is wanted in connection to the hit-and-run.Andre Shuford, 53, is accused of hitting all three victims at the intersection of 56th and Vine streets on September 2, then leaving them behind.Two girls, ages 5 and 3, sustained "bodily injuries," and a 43-year-old man suffered non-fatal injuries to his head and hip, according to police. Authorities say the 5-year-old girl was airlifted to CHOP in critical condition, but her current condition is not known. Gavin Newsom signed a bill decriminalizing it.The new law, the Freedom to Walk Act, says you can cross the street anywhere outside of an intersection, but only if it's safe to do so.Police will still be able to stop or ticket you if crossing the street puts you in danger of being hit.The author of the bill, Assemblyman Phil Ting, (D-San Francisco,) argued jaywalking bills are arbitrarily enforced, and unequally impact poor people and people of color."It should not be a criminal offense to safely cross the street.
