Police name officer seriously injured in Glasgow stabbings as knifeman shot dead
Police have named a police officer who was seriously injured after he was stabbed in Glasgow.Six people were injured after a knifeman stabbed them in the Park Inn hotel in the Scottish city on Friday. The attacker was shot dead by police.Police said the attack was not terrorism-related.Tonight, Police Scotland Chief Constable Iain Livingstone has paid tribute to officers including constable David Whyte, 42, who was stabbed.Mr Whyte is still in a critical but stable condition and his family are being supported.The five other victims are men and are aged 17, 18, 20, 38 and 53, Police Scotland say.In a statement, Mr Livingstone said: “Terrible incidents such as we have seen today are, thankfully, very rare in Scotland.
