Salford council could be spending up to £70,000 on political assistants but the possible move has caused a row in the town hall – after Labour said political parties rather than taxpayers should fund the positions.Council legislation says that any party with more than 10 percent of the seats can hire a political assistant.Salford Labour group already have a political organiser but this position is paid for by the Labour group.
