Salford’s city mayor Paul Dennett has described his experience with suspected covid-19 - and says he came down with the shakes while on a teleconference call with the region’s leaders.

Although he wasn’t tested for the virus, he said he’d experienced many of the tell-tale symptoms of covid-19, including a shortness of breath, dry cough and loss of taste and smell.

And the symptoms first struck while he was on the weekly call with Greater Manchester’s leaders discussing how the region should tackle the virus.
