Phased easing of Level 5 restrictions gets under way

Public health officials have appealed to people not to let their guard down as the phased easing of Covid-19 restrictions begins.

The 5km travel limit is among the measures which is being lifted from today with residential construction work also restarting and all children returning to school.

After more than a hundred days of Level 5 lockdown today marks the beginning of the cautious easing of restrictions. People will be able to travel anywhere within their county or up to 20km from their home if they are crossing county boundaries.

People from two households can meet up outdoors for social and recreational purposes but this does not include meeting up in private gardens, in order to avoid situations arising where people would gather
