South Ayrshire Council have contacted more than 4,600 high risk residents by phone, email or letter to check if they need help.

Staff have also visited hundreds in person. Shielding is for people, including children, who are at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus.

They are advised not to leave their home and minimise contact with others in their household. The council has not been able to trace 18 people on the list despite calling, phoning and visiting their homes according to an update delivered to councillors last Tuesday (June 2).
