Police enforcing coronavirus social-distancing measures have fined a woman £800 for “loitering between platforms”. Marie Dinou, from York was handed an £8,000 fine at Newcastle Central Station on Saturday.
The 41-year-old was handed the fine for “loitering between platforms” and couldn’t justify her train travel or explain why she needed to travel to cops.
Dinou also refused to give her name, and was arrested on suspicion of breaking restrictions imposed under the Coronavirus Act 2020.
On Monday, she appeared at North Tyneside Magistrate’ Court and was handed a £660 fine for breaching pandemic rules, a court staff member said.
