UPPER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP - Authorities say a suspect is in custody after opening fire on a police officer from the backyard of a home in Upper Gwynedd Township Sunday afternoon.

The incident reportedly happened on Cathys Lane sometime before 3 p.m. Police say the shooter was armed with a rifle. The officer was not hit and is ok.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities have not reported what sparked the shooting.
