Police stop Brits as they flock to beaches in first weekend since lockdown eased

Thousands of people descended on parks and beaches today, the first weekend since the lockdown was partially eased. However, police were forced to stop drivers and pull them over to remind them of the rules as some areas became extremely busy in the sunshine.

The government announced earlier this week that people in England can now travel to beaches or beauty spots, as long as they practise social distancing.

This prompted many to enjoy the warm weather, with pictures showing packed beaches in Brighton and many enjoying bike rides in central London.
