UK food banks are seeing demand soar by up to 325% during lockdown - and many children are being affected. The average increase in the demand for food bank support has been over 210% with some parts of London seeing a 270% rise in households needing their help.

This includes the Tower Hamlets area of the capital, which is facing a 325% increase, and Newham, where demand has risen by around 305%.

Bristol has also seen a 216% rise in demand and the need for help in Sheffield has gone increased by 181%. The latest figures have been shared by Investec, who are supporting food banks in 15 cities.
