Policeman seriously injured after being repeatedly stabbed during coronavirus 999 call

A police officer lost a litre and a half of blood when he was repeatedly stabbed during a coronavirus emergency call. Sergeant Carl Blanks, 47, is in a serious condition in hospital after surgeons had to remove two sections of his bowel.

Mohammed Ibrahim, 33, appeared in court today charged with attempted murder. Ibrahim is also charged with attempting to wound Sgt Leighton Healan in the incident on Thursday.
