Premier League organisers have set a start date for the 2020/21 season which will leave little room for recovery from Project Restart’s games.

The remaining 92 games are set to be played out from June 17 as top-flight gets restarted after the coronavirus suspension. It has seen questions raised about the new campaign due to the delayed fixtures being played in what would have been the clubs’ summer.

But the top 20 teams have now given the green light on Thursday for the 2020/21 season to get started in the second week of September, covering September 12 and 13.

August will be kept clear, meaning Premier League players only get a three-week break if pre-season fixtures are factored in.
