A Belgian prince has tested positive for coronavirus after attending a party in Spain. Prince Joachim, nephew of King Phillipe, broke lockdown rules by going to the gathering 1,050 miles from his home, which Spanish authorities have branded "completely irresponsible".
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the 28-year-old was one of 27 people at the private party in Córdoba - nearly double the 15 allowed to meet under the city's coronavirus restrictions.
Joachim, who is ninth in line to the throne, is understood to have travelled to Madrid on May 24 for a business trip. He then reportedly took a train to Córdoba in Andalusia, where his long-term partner Victoria Ortiz is said to be from. For the latest on the coronavirus pandemic, read
