Pub landlady 'unable to heat flat and living on tinned soup' after Covid-19 grant delay

A landlady says she is “living on tinned soup” and cannot afford to heat her flat because of government funding delays. Christine Langham, from Hull, is now 'racking up' debt as she falls behind on her rent while waiting for the cash to come through.

She claims she has emailed her local council around 15 times asking where the grant payments are but has not received a response, Hull Live reports.

The landlady says she is entitled to £1,334 a month - £667 every fortnight - to cover expenses she can no longer afford while her pub, The Ship Inn, in Hull, is shut.

However, a payment she expected to arrive on December 16 still has not arrived in her account. She is one of thousands of pub owners in the UK relying on Government funding,
