The Government should seize the reopening of pubs as an opportunity to curb drink driving, a motoring lawyer has warned. Bars and pubs should be told to seal off their car parks and use the space to provide more outdoor seating, Nick Freeman, known as Mr Loophole, said.
This will not only help with social distancing, but will also limit people who would ordinarily drive to the pub, he argues.
From July 4, all pubs and bars in England will be allowed to trade again, with a list of 13 Covid-ready safety measures, including encouraging outdoor drinking.
However, with most recent figures showing there were 5,900 car accidents and 8,700 casualties as a result of drink drivers in 2018, the lawyer says the Government should use the July 4
