'Everyday Covid heroes' across the country are set to be formerly recognised by Her Majesty the Queen with official honours, the Government has confirmed.
Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said the Queen's birthday honours list would be delayed until the autumn so 'they can be recognised and celebrated'.
Gongs ranging from knighthoods to MBEs and CBEs are usually announced in June to mark the Queen's official birthday. The announcement came after Downing Street said Second World War veteran and NHS fundraiser Captain Tom Moore is set to be knighted by the Queen.
The 100-year-old, who was also made an honorary Colonel, raised almost £33 million for health service charities by walking laps of his Bedfordshire garden.
