“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”That wonderful opening to the Tale of Two Cities seems to sum up where we find ourselves today.In the past week there have been two scenes which have caused me to reflect.One was of empty shelves in the supermarket and the other was of poor homeless man in the streets of Glasgow.I had passed him by and then returned to give him a couple of quid and salve my conscience but as I did so, he looked up and said ‘Thank you, sir, so many people don’t even notice I am here.
