A convicted murderer who was serving a life sentence after stabbing a mum to death has died of coronavirus. Angela Burkitt was jailed for a minimum of 20 years in December 2017 after fatally knifing Joanne Hemingway, 39, in a "revenge stabbing" in June that same year.
Burkitt, 55, had been serving her time in HMP New Hall but died in hospital on Friday after testing positive for Covid-19, Hull Live reports.
The Ministry of Justice confirmed Burkitt, from Hull, had died in hospital after previously testing positive for Covid-19. A Prison Service spokesperson said: “A 55-year-old HMP New Hall prisoner died in hospital on April 17, 2020.
